Southampton FC has announced that shirt sponsor Flyde will remain with the club as they drop into League 1. Reports of a break down suggested that Flyde may part company with the Saints at the end of the season but bosses of the airline company seem to have had a change in heart.

Nevertheless, it was confirmed that the value of the sponsorship deal between the two clubs has dropped significantly from the original £250,000 deal this season due to Southampton’s relegation.

 Simon Lilley, Flyde Marketing Director, said: “We will definitely be with the Saints next year as their main shirt sponsor regardless of what happens. We are not in football sponsorship for the glory or else we would be at a Premiership club. We want to be part of the community and Southampton is a community club and we stand by them.”
