Nigeria reject Adidas World Cup kit design
The head of marketing in Nigeria has revealed that they have rejected the kit that was previously revealed as being the Nigeria shirt to be worn at the 2010 World Cup.
The kit has been on sale worldwide and was even on display at the 2010 World Cup draw in South Africa. However, Idris Adama has claimed that the new shirt design has not yet been approved and that it will not be worn at any major football events. Nevertheless, he claimed that a final decision would be made before the 2010 African Cup of Nations.
“We have not finalised anything about our new jerseys,” Adama said. “We are looking at some designs with adidas, but we havent signed off on anything yet.”

The current kit (above) has angered many Nigerians, who have described it as, an inferior generic, off-the-shelf offering with little creative design. It led to an online petition to produce a more attractive kit that would remembered in a big year for Nigerian football. It seems that the Nigerian marketing department might have listened to the supporter’s views and quickly backtracked over the current released kit.
