The return of the white band across the stomach region of the shirt! Sometimes less is more, but the Middlesbrough shirt last season just didn't seem like a Boro shirt without the white stripe. But, thanks to the votes of 'Boro fans, it is back with a bang. The traditional red shirt features a white band which curves up and merges with the white piping below the shoulders on the left hand side of the shirt. The manufacturer's (Errea) badge is accompanied by the relatively new club badge, and the Garmin Sat Nav logo, which looks stylish positioned in the centre of the returning white band.
Not too bad. The blue and black stripes look a little tacky, but are reminiscent of 1970s away kits worn by the Northern side. If I was a 'Boro fan, I would choose the home shirt above this, without much thought. However, perhaps the nostalgic value of the old blue and black design will garner this shirt a fiar few purchases by long-time 'Boro fans.
